Bobby Lashley returned to World Wrestling Entertainment on Monday Night Raw following WrestleMania 34, confirming rumors surrounding the former Impact star. Since his return, Lashley beat down Elias during a promo and wrestled in a two multi-man matches alongside faces like Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns. If his return feels a little lackluster, well Booker T agrees with you.
On the most recent episode of Heated Conversations: Hosted by Booker T, the five-time champ sounded off on Lashley’s return. After praising Lashley for his initial WWE run and expressing concern for his decision to leave, Booker shared his apprehension with the current Lashley run. To start, Booker feels Lashley needs to work on his “Shakespearean.” This seems to imply Booker thinks Lashley isn’t ready to take the mic for a promo and that WWE might feel the same way. He also expressed concerns about Lashley’s footwork, likening him to a rushed quarterback taking too many steps out of the pocket.
Co-host Brad Gilmore took the conversation a step further, asking Booker if he wanted to see Lashley take on Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Following the trend of the conversation, Booker again expressed concern. Lashley needs to do something extraordinary to prove he belongs in the same ring with Lesnar and would need, at a minimum, one year to build that fight, according to Booker.
Although fans are excited and clamoring for Lashley to be thrown into the WWE Universal Championship picture, it seems like Booker would rather slam the breaks and work on a few things before going that far. Whether or not WWE management and Vince McMahon feel the same way is yet to be seen.
